Union with ourselves,
with others and with our surroundings.
What is Yoga ?
With its origins in India, the word Yoga has various definitions. Perhaps the best known is that Yoga is derived from "yuj" which means union, the union of body, mind and soul. In a more detailed way, we could say that it is the union of thought with emotions, sensations and the physical body, but also the union of the personality with the inner Being and of the individuality with the Everything in the Here and Now of the eternal Present.
PHILOSOPHY
According to the traditional texts on Yoga, Yoga is described or defined as "Chitta vrtti nirodhah" which is interpreted as: Yoga is the method by which the restless mind is calmed, and energy is conducted along constructive paths.
IN PRACTICE
With various postures (Asanas), breathing techniques (Pranayama), and coordinated sequences of both (Kriyas, Vinyasas) we work with our physical and mental bodies to open the door to our spiritual body.
